Mr. Peterson and his wife Louise moved to Savannah in 1997, after retiring as Vice President of the Allstate Insurance Company, having spent over 35 years with that firm. The last 10 of which he served as Vice President for the Ohio Region with sales, marketing, claims, underwriting and financial operations. He had P & L responsibility for the $390 million profit center with over 1,200 associates. Mr. Peterson received his BA in Psychology from the DePauw University. He also participated in an advanced study of insurance at Georgia State in Atlanta. Since moving to Savannah and The Landings in 1997, Mr. Peterson has been very involved with SHALSI since 2003, while operating his own independent marketing consulting firm. He is the past president of the local American Cancer Society Board and past Chairman of the State of Georgia's Public Policy Advisory Committee. He is the past president of The Landings Association, which is the non-profit property owners' organization responsible for promoting the welfare and safety of the residences in The Landings, a 4,200+ home residential golf-course community. He has been active in the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf since 2003, as the Hospitality Chair, and was Volunteer of the year in 2006. In 2008 he was recognized as a "Savannah Star" for his volunteer contributions to the community, and state. Russ and his wife Louise are members of the Skidaway Methodist Church, where he serves on the administrative board.
