MONDAY

RESIDENT-LED LINE DANCING

“We have a popular line dancing class that I offered my services to teach. One of the other residents provided copies of the actual dance steps and, with music provided by The Marshes, we are thriving!”

TUESDAY

MAHJONG

“I have been playing oriental mahjong for about 7 years now. It is a fun challenge which starts simply and builds up. What I most enjoy about it is that everyone is actually playing a different game. If you watch closely, though, you may be able to figure out what they’re up to.”

WEDNESDAY

KNITTING GROUP

“I started knitting at age 8 in Brownies. My first project was a square destined to join others to form a blanket for a WWII vet. The project that demanded the most concentration and artistry was a white lace mink yarn bridal shawl for a dear granddaughter. Our knitting group consists of about 12 members and is an outgrowth of the one at the United Methodist Church at the Isle Of Hope. We help each other and trade patterns and equipment. We often knit for charity. These little Izzy dolls are destined for the Ronald McDonald House. A lady from Romania who lost a child to cancer put the pattern on the internet and many groups all over the world are making them now.”

THURSDAY

ROGER SMITH LECTURE

“Oh, Roger is such a wonderful speaker. He could read the phone book and have everyone hanging on every word. I never miss his lectures even though I may feel I am familiar with the subject already.”

FRIDAY

SATURDAY

RESIDENT-LED YOGA CLASS

“At the beginning I didn’t feel I was getting much out of yoga but I am a believer now. It makes me feel better physically and our little class also provides a warm community of harmony and friendship”
